Result: lost 2-3, 25-15, 22-25, 18-25, 25-23, 12-15

Our girls are playing such good volleyball now it’s a pleasure to watch and to see all the work and ideas they are getting from training coming through into competitive games. Things were just a little off in this match though, a few service errors, a few overhit attacks at critical times, and weak blocking all combined to undermine an otherwise stong performance and keep us from building any real momentum. It was, nevertheless, an exciting game full of long hard-fought rallies and flashes of brilliance, and a result that could have gone either way right up to last few points.

We started well against Red Falcons, pulling away convincingly in the second half of the first set to a comfortable 25-15 win, but Falcons fought back well getting their outside attack into the game and winning a lot of points through 4 as the match progressed. Falcons took sets 2 and 3, our girls held on to win set 4 so it was all square going into the 5th. It didn’t start well for us, a bad dig, a misplaced spike, and we were 3-0 then 4-1 down, turned round 5-8 down but looked to be building a better position then failed at the end with a serving error a hitting error and a confused scramble in mid-court.

More composure and more consist serving would have won the game for us but the team is learning all the time….
