Result: Lost 0-3, 16-25, 17-25, 23-25

This season’s Everton’s MVL team is very unbalanced, a mixture of experienced NVL players and inexperienced newcomers, but they proved too good for our ‘A’ team. Wirral A, weakened again by the absence of Eisha - our main setter - and of Yan Xi in the middle, couldn’t cope with Everton’s strong serve and clever attack. Our first ball was poor with many spilled passes and our cover was woeful as Everton found spaces around the block and in mid-court where there should have been none. When it was working strong serving kept us in the game and we led at times in set 3 getting to 23-23 before faltering at the end.

Despite our problems with movement and cover the game featured some great rallies and terrific recoveries but real control and attacking winners were hard to come by.
