We have entered a Wirral girls team in Volleyball England’s U15g Grand Prix. It is a four-a side-competition to be played on badminton courts. There will be three rounds before Christmas.

Round 1

Venue: Madely School, Newcastle Road, Crewe. CW3 9JJ (off the M6 south of Crewe)

Three wins one draw and one defeat doesn’t sound like too bad a start to our U15 Grand Prix campaign but the reality was worse than the results suggest. There were three very new and inexperienced teams in this round and two- from Newcastle Staffs - who had some idea how to play. We beat the three weak teams easily but struggled against both ‘Castle’ teams, mostly because of our own errors. Our girls never looked confident and never reached the standard they regularly play on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. We need to try to build some confidence before the next round on November 19th.
